About the subject

The depicted girl is the beautiful Cristina Otero, known as Senju-HiMe at dA.
Anyway, although it's not my face here, the portrait symbolizes all the seriously bad and sad experiences I've been through since last year. If someones thinks: "I didn't notice any change in your behaviour"... well, I'm good at keeping up appearances.

About the drawing itself

As you can see, I changed a few things: I decided to draw Cristina's eyes wet of tears, because my intention was to give the portrait a quite sad feeling, as if the girl has just fallen apart. Hope I didn't overdo with the sadness and it doesn't look tacky.
Also, a part of the hair has been drawn from my imagination, as the reference picture is almost squared.
It took me over two months to finish the drawing, wow! :faint:

BTW, check out the songs, or at least the one by Seether. Quite beautiful and emotional one.

Thank you for your feedback in advance! :heart:

:star::star::star::star::star: Technique
:star::star::star::star::star-half: Impact

I'll start with my rating on impact. Face it, there's just something about that... I don't know, soulful look? The curve of her eyebrows and her gaze, the tilt of her chin -- everything betrays her feelings to a point. The shadowing and black and white gives it a dramatic, yet lonely sort of setting. Technique is a perfect score, obviously. As long as you're not zoomed right up on it, few could tell it isn't a photograph even after a few seconds of looking for imperfections, of which there are few, if at all.

The mixture of shadows and highlights was done to perfection, I must say. Even down to the texture of her skin, the light in her eyes, the wet look of her tear -- paying attention to individual details in turn, and still seems as though the best of models was caught at the best of times with the best of artists to capture the best of moments.

Originality, I am sorry to say, was rated a little lower. This is because the feelings of a crying girl, and sadness, have really been done many, many times. Though you have done an incredible job with it and I am past impressed, I must admit that the main picture itself, that of a crying girl, is not particularly impressive. Though, keep in mind that this is one of the best 'crying girl' takes I have ever seen, and that it does look very, very real, better than I could ever do. But even the best, if it's been done before, has still been done before. However, I wouldn't take away much from that, since a crying girl will never be 'overdone,' especially if it's done right (like this). And, as I mentioned, you did do a very good job at... how shall I put this... 'making it your own.' I'll be comparing other 'crying girls' to yours soon enough. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=";) (Wink)"/>

But even with the mixture of compliments and not-so-compliments, this is, all in all, an honestly incredible piece of art. And I really should not be saying so much about it, since I cannot draw something even close to this. But I thought that I should go to the trouble of writing you a critique because you really, really do deserve it for this amazing work.
