Oh hell yes, Mr. Jared Leto again. I love this guy and the rest of band a lot, as you must have noticed very long time ago
I've wanted to use this particular reference photo since the moment I saw it for the first time, but I've never had guts and courage to give it a try. It was way too tricky. His hair, his clothes, the background, all these things used to make me stay away from this wonderful photo [in my humble opinion: one of Leto's best pictures]. I surprised myself one month ago, because finally I felt like portraying him from that photo. I promised myself this would be my best portrait ever. Then I thought: "If it doesn't turn out to be the best of the best things I've drawn, it must be the best portrait of Jared at least". To decide, if I managed to do it, is up to you, guys :> Anyway, this time I'll skip the advantages/flaws part. I only tell you, that it's the most time-consuming portrait I've ever done. It took me a few weeks to finish it, of course, with breaks. The total time might be [approximately] 45h. The title... I like his gaze here. So oblivious... so it's certain why I chose "Oblivion". It's the title of one of the Thirty Seconds To Mars' first songs. Considering his clothes, "This is war" would fit, too ]. Check out the word on the pocket... "calf". Not sure if such a phrase exists in English, but in Polish does - if someone's gaze looks abstent or dreamy, we call it "a calf gaze", so it fits here One last thing to tell you... it's the last portrait of Jared I've drawn. Yes, you read well: I did mean last, not latest. I've portrayed him so many times, that I decided to do a little break and rest. It's time to draw Tomo and Shannon, don't you think? I haven't drawn them since months so they need some attention for sure! Though I'm pretty sure I'll come back to the younger Leto one day.
Sorry for my long speech. It was kinda farewell speech Every time I want to describe sth briefly, I end up writing an essay
P.S. I must confess something: can you imagine I had to re-draw his hair? When I drew it for the first time, I didn't like the way it turned out, so I erased it and drew again Only I can be SO stupid.
