Media: Derwent compressed charcoal, Derwent charcoal in pencil [black, white and brown]
Time: 5h

About the drawing

My third attempt at drawing with charcoal and the first work I drew since one month! :la: Unfortunately, I've had the first in my life art block for two months and I was barely drawing during that period of time. Now I feel a bit better and more encouraged to pick up a pencil. I also finished other portrait [of Maleficent :dummy:] and I'll upload it next week :)
I made the girl's hair a bit different from the reference photo and added the strings of pearls, so the drawing would match a sister portrait Black Pearl.
Hope you like it :iconcocowave:

It's the grace of God, I see in this womens face. She reminds me of an african woman I know who is having a hard time over here. I prayed a sinners prayer not 12 hours ago for her. I love it! well done.
As opposed to defined realism which at times seems empty (not reffereing to your other pictures by the way), this one is from the heart. This one to me says more about the raw feelings of her expression as opposed to the skill behind drawing techniques, which though are very important, mean nothing without the expression behind them.
