About the subject This Amy Winehouse portrait has been commissioned*. The funny thing is I wanted to draw her from the same photo about two years ago, but didn't do it in the end, so I was glad about this commission. I wasn't a huge fan of Amy and I didn't become one after her death [as many people did O_o -> [link] ], but since I saw her for the first time I've been fascinated by a few great songs of Amy's and her look: a specific make-up: giant lines on the eyelids and a giant hairdo. She also had beautiful eyes. When I heard about her death, I can't say I was suffering from sorrow, but I was sorry for her. It's a pity that such a talented person couldn't overcome her demons and died so young.
About the portrait I've been struggling with this drawing as all sheets of A3-sized paper I have are a lil' bit slippery. Drawing on it isn't easy and I can't use my usual technique of shading as it doesn't work Well, I have to buy new paper. The part I always love to draw - hair - was the worst here The easiest part was the background. I drew the window frame and the wall behind Amy's back in a few minutes. "How come? Such a complicated texture?", you ask. Yep. I put the drawing on the textured tiling, started shading and the texture on the window frame and the wall turned out at once Depsite of difficulties, I like the final result. Hope you do, too
Thank you for the feedback in advance, I appreciate it
