About the subject
Aidan Turner as the too-pretty-to-be-a-dwarf Kili. Yes, I had read "The Hobbit" before I went to the cinema [although it was ~10 years ago]. Yes, I have an unhealthy obsession with Aidan as Kili. And yes, there will be more Hobbit fan arts!
Anyway, I was feeling in my bones that it would happen. I mean, me, being obsessed with "The Hobbit" movie 10 years ago, when I took up drawing, my first subjects of portraits were actors/characters of "Harry Potter" and... "The Lord Of the Rings". I drew lots of them! So it's good to be back in Middle Earth My favourite dwarves of "The Hobbit" movie were: silly but brave Kili [it rhymes! ], lovely and warmhearted Bofur and stubborn and majestic Thorin Oakenshield The first mentioned stole my heart. Not only because his of attractive look, but his adorKable personality as well ["You must be Mr. Boggins" and that proud smile or "I've got huge parasites!" ]. And I found that Aidan, the actor who plays Kili, is a really down to earth, charming guy, therefore I couldn't resist drawing him. I picked this reference [link] as I wanted to challenge myself at drawing wavy hair and I liked the strong contrasts between dark and light hues at his face.
About the drawing
It was a pure pleasure to draw this portrait - so many details and so many textures! The hair took quite a long time. In spite of disliking the blending stump, I used it here to make the background out of focus. I can do a smooth shading without it, but I decided that the background blended by the blending stump would be even more... blended
It's my fav artwork I posted this year. Hope you like it! Feedback is much appreciated
